PATC (Phase 1)
Focus: Biblical Foundations
12-hour overview of the following courses:
1001 Introduction to the Bible
1004 Effective Bible Reading
1007 Survey of the Old Testament
1072 Survey of the New Testament
2011 Baptist Doctrine
6021 Spiritual Formation
2023 Creative Ways of Teaching
9008 Public Speaking
Pastors or pastoral staff (associate preachers or ministry leaders with pastoral approval) with three or more years of pastoral (or associate pastor) experience are eligible for Phase 1. Participants will be required to satisfy 12 hours of training. The course includes a hybrid emphasis of the following components:
The Sunday School Publishing Board will award a Certificate when the following requirements have been met:
Phases 2-4
Students completing the accelerated Phase 1 session will continue to Phase 2. In Phase 2, students will complete five courses with a minimum of 10 hours of class time each. Students will receive a certificate at the end of each Phase. Upon completing all four phases and associated forms and paying appropriate fees, the student will receive the Sunday School Publishing Board Diploma of Pastoral Studies.

9915 The Essentials of Biblical Research Using the World Wide Web and Biblical Software (Introduction to Hermeneutics)
9922 The History and Continuing Role of the African American Church in America
Phase 4
Focus: Contemporary Issues Facing the Church
7001 Building Healthy Churches
8035 The African-American Church and Social Justice
9921 Pastoral Leadership in Financing and Budgeting the Work of the Church
9923 Organizing the Church for Ministry and Mission
9924 Congregational Leadership in the 21st Century
