Greetings in the Precious Name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior!
I am thrilled to greet you on behalf of our Mid-South Churches Cooperative Conference State Convention. Along with your leadership team, we welcome you to our website. We hope you find the pages informative and inspirational. We also invite you to like our Facebook Page.
We’re unique in that we are a combined state convention and congress and association. That means we only have one annual session the week after the Third Sunday in March. However, we have other activities throughout the year highlighted by our annual VBS/Teachers’ Workshop the First Saturday in February and Sunday School Workshop the Second Saturday in August. We believe that the Gospel message is not just for Sunday. It’s a seven days of the week message of love, hope, and salvation.
For over 70 years, our State Congress has been the Christian education voice of Northwest Mississippi. Our efforts build upon the sacrificial work of countless others in years past beginning with the first State Congress president Deacon Dan Robinson. In March 2012, our State Congress voted to remain independent. In support of this vote, we voted on May 31, 2012, to have a combined Original North Mississippi Baptist State Congress (now known as the State Congress of Mid-South Churches), Association, and State Convention Meeting in March 2013 and to represent directly into the National Baptist Convention, USA, Incorporated (NBCUSA). As a result, I’m humbled to represent our State Convention and State Congress on the respective national boards of the NBCUSA.
We’re thankful to have our headquarters co-located with the Hill-Hernando Church Family allowing us to have ample space for our annual session, workshops, and more. We wanted to have a place to call “home.” So, there’s someone in our office weekly from 10 am – 4:30 p.m.
In closing, we solicit your prayers, volunteerism, and support as we work together to make our Conference what God wants it to be.
I am in His service,
Dr. Michael O. Minor
